I just wrapped up watching Star Wars with my partner. She’d never seen the movies, and I’d always wanted to try Machete Order with someone who’d never seen, so we did that.*
My takeaways from the experience:
- If you’re also thinking of springing Machete Order on someone, don’t. The transition from ‘70s–‘80s film aesthetics to ‘90s–‘00s, then back, then to ‘10s film aesthetics gave us whiplash. Also, the reveal in V that inspired Machete Order just isn’t all that surprising or emotionally compelling as delivered. The emotional punch Machete Order promises lands even weaker when we go back in time to see how Luke’s dad came to be the Emperor’s attack dog. (See my next point.)
- Anakin was always an ass. Okay, not in I, but certainly in II and III. Whiny, ungrateful, quick to anger, and brimming with stalker-level creepiness for Padmé, he’s an unlikeable dude before he even commits his first mass murder. The quality of Anakin’s character makes the romance entirely unbelievable, especially juxtaposed as he is by Padmé. Not even the galaxy’s best dark space wizard dick a woman can get makes that pairing believable.
- Fuck the Jedi. Cops. The Jedi are dogmatic, incompetent, laser-sword wielding space wizard cops. My childhood was a lie.
- Disney’s trilogy is the best trilogy. Fighting words*, I know, but it’s the truth. Is each entry of the Disney trilogy basically just a retelling of each entry in the original trilogy? Yes. A better telling, with a more diverse cast playing more interesting characters with much greater skill and much-improved acting and AV effects. Furthermore, the repetition of some story elements are easily justified in a fantasy context and against the backdrop of a cyclical struggle between the light and dark sides of some all-pervading space magic. Granted, none* of the films are really all that great, so the bar was set low for Disney.
TL;DR
If you’re thinking of Machete Order to introduce someone to the Star Wars movies, don’t. Start and end with the Disney trilogy—you really don’t need any more of the Skywalker Saga than that.
Our expanded play order was Andor, Rogue One, IV, V, I, II, III, VI, VII, VIII, and IX. **Don’t fight me. This is all just in good fun, just my opinion, and Star Wars* is just another brand. Don’t take anything you read here personally or too seriously. Feel free to disagree, but be nice. I will block you if it seems to me that you’re looking for a fight in the comments.

One year after getting my #HHKB (Happy Hacking Keyboard) I'm still not sure whether I like it or not. I stand by my original opinion that the keyboard is good, but wildly overhyped.
Pros:
- looks great
- topre switches
- mac-friendly layout
- no caps lock (it's left control)
Cons:
- Questionable layout choices (no dedicated arrows, ~ in an absurd position, \ and Del swapped)
- Tiny alt/opt keys
- No right control (there's definitely space for one)
- No advanced remapping capabilities (think QMK)
- I constantly have to wake it up and the sleep interval is not configurable (why doesn't any key press wake it up???)
- the battery hatch is ugly
- it doesn't switch to USB-C automatically when you plug it in...
- rarely it loses connection with my computer (e.g. once per 6 months) and I need to redo the setup
It's a good keyboard for sure (any keyboard with Topre switches is pretty good by default), but in some ways it feels like a step back from my beloved Leopold FC660C that it replaced. My guess is that mostly people hype the HHKB mostly because they've never touched another Topre keyboard or are more forgiving about poor layout choices and configuration options than me.
If someone makes a real modern keyboard with Topre switches I'll likely immediately dump the HHKB.
Here is my IT prediction and Hot Take
Year of Linux Desktop meme will come true when people feel comfortable using Google Chrome running on Windows 12 running on a VM in some datacenter, accessed via Firefox browser in Linux.
This will be thanks to C-suit officers and governments who would die rather than break up with Microsoft.
Note: This is not 2026 prediction, but a rant about willful big-tech dependence.

- #Patents of lifeforms and DNA have to be outlawed.
- #Copyright to something should cease the moment the copyright holder refuses to offer the copyrighted work under FRAND terms. If buying isn't ownership than #piracy isn't #theft. Also #OneTimePurchase options [for a specific version] should be mandatory by law and #subscriptions only be allowed for products and services that actually incur costs to upkeep (i.e. bandwith and storage for hosting/streaming). Designing something as "#LiveService" when it has no reason (i.e. refusing to sell physical copies) to should be deemed a fraudulent circumvention of it.
- "#ClientsideAnticheat" is #malware and needs to be prosecuted as such. Any "#AntiCheat" should be Server-Sided only.
- #PriceGouging must be prosecuted harder, espechally when it comes to #utilities.
- Just like #FuelPrices at a #GasStation, so should #ChargingStations be mandated to publish their pricing publicly in realtime and not discriminate customers!
- Everyone should have a #RightToBanking without discrimination. Any closure of accounts must be legitimized by actual criminal activity (i.e. money laundering, fraud, terrorism financing, ...) and go through due process with appeals.
- Everyone should have a right to free, unseizeable #ID documents without mandating #biometrics or other privacy invasions! These should be eligible as Travel #Passport and people should have global #FreedomOfMovement only restricted by an actual, individual judge ruling that went through proper oversight and appeals. Duplicate Issues to avoid Visa Conflicts (with duplicate Serial Numbers!) should be offered and granted upon request.
