P.S. Для чебурнета архитектура #Jami выглядит куда предпочтительнее, чем довольно бестолковые варианты установки MTProto или WA-proxy - которые нормально работают только при отсутствии блокировок.
Другой вопрос что на практике Signal куда лучше справлялся даже с отправкой сообщений, чем Jami.
Вот и интересно поглядеть, как это заработает с локальным сервером.

Как поставить на свой Raspberry сервер JAMS для #Jami
Фокус в том, что никакого центрального сервера нет. Но пока один из абонентов offline, сообщения ходят плохо.
Вот с таким сервером должны ходить получше, тем более при всяких вариантах чебурнета.

I'm outside China, need to speak (voice calls, texts) with someone inside China. Until now, used #WeChat, but now it says our versions are incompatible for voice calls, & neither of us can update WeChat.

Partially related question I have always wanted to rise - how independent is #Tor from the problems in the US politics.

Another thing - are #xmpp servers able to do server2server via #Tor? I mean, really servers isolated from the clearnet - otherwise it makes no sense, the EU regulations do not target user nor protocol, they catch the server owner - the most accessible part of the story for them. Indeed, we can select a server in another jurisdiction, but will be there any one which matches any minimal standards of privacy respect?

Despite being a long-term user and admirer of #jabber - I am afraid we would need to consider to exclude servers at all an try the things like #Jami.

At least, let's celebrate diversity.
