Microsoft bando populiarinti Windows Phone 7.5 ir pasirenkamas kompiuterių milžinas Acer, kuris pristatė daugumai įperkamą Allegro (W4). Tai buvo bandymas užimti biudžetinę šios operacinės sistemos nišą, siūlant pigesnę alternatyvą Nokia Lumia ar HTC modeliams, tačiau itin stipri pastarųjų konkurencija sužlugdė Acer bandymą.

Ce week-end, j'ai acheté à un voisin son assez vieil écran #Acer 19' 16/10 VGA pour télétravailler

Pourquoi ? Parce que mon ancien 17' 4/3 est quasi mort, celui-ci est pas cher, d'occasion (recyclage) + ni recul ni beaucoup de largeur sur mon bureau

L'écran marche impeccable avec mon #Linux perso (alignement, luminosité/contraste, anti-aliasing, etc..)

Et il marchouille avec #Windows 10 du boulot, forcément... Bug peu commun mais connu et non résolu apparemment : recalibrage auto pourri et non désactivable, donc à refaire à la main tous les jours, luminosité/contraste très moyen, anti-aliasing absent, ...)

Bref, pas grave, mais je ne suis pas Joie ! 😢

Nuevo #viernesdeescritorio con el mismo #Mageia. Como me llamó la atención el bajo rendimiento de la #Acer la semana pasada, cambié de #KDE a #XFCE. Tengamos en cuenta que esta Notebook salió al mercado en 2017.
La dinámica de latte + krunner + yakuake la conservé usando plank + Albert + la terminal desplegable de XFCE. Funciona muy bien. Veremos como se comporta en el próximo round de trabajo intenso.

Pick this up Acer I5 machine with a nice Acer Monitor, Logictech keyboard and mouse for $4.00 US from a local auction - Kind of surprised it went that cheap - but I always play the odds that people really don't know what computers are. LOL.

Hoy la #Acer con #Mageia tuvo su primera puesta a prueba en actividades laborales, y pasó satisfactoriamente. Cuando la compré (en 2017 creo), tuve que desactivar todas las animaciones y transparencias de Windows 10 y aún así su rendimiento no era el mejor. Ahora, con #KDE, #Latte y corriendo varios navegadores de base chromium estuvo muy exigida, como en aquellos primeros días. Pero pudimos seguir adelante. Quizás me convenga cambiar a un desktop manager más conveniente para este equipo. La única limitante, es que amo la dinámica de trabajo con #Yakuake, el dock y #Krunner.

I'm telling you! Acer laptops are fucking crap. A few months ago, a friend brought me a laptop for me to install Windows on. And you know what? The BIOS kept freezing. Apparently there was a problem with the RAM. And yesterday, another friend brought me an Acer, too, and you know what? It didn't recognize the SSD, right out of the box. I spent half a day trying to figure out how to fix it. I even tried installing Linux (which recognized the SSD, but wouldn't install). Do you know how I solved the problem? I found a HIDDEN option in the BIOS (which appears after a key combination) called Intel VMD. And after that, everything worked. WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS!?
