The word "coping" has been getting passed around a lot right now.

It's appropriate. It doesn't mean that things are fine. It just means you're "dealing with it" however you can.

And that's okay.

Bonus points if we help each other deal with it.

"My Life Is Fucked And I'm Out Of Spoons. What Do?"

I drafted a zine while still stuck in the old rundown house in the middle of nowhere, waiting for the eviction notice to arrive. It's about coping and doing whatever amount of thriving I can. It's a handwritten minzine made from a single A4 page.

I didn't yet get around to writing it cleanly, but here, have a messy draft!
(the rest of the pages in the 🧵)

#zine #MiniZine #MentalHealth #depression #coping #spoonie #disability #poverty #survive

Photo of the cover of a minizine entitled "My life is fucked and I'm out of spoons. What do?" It's written in sloppy handwriting in blue ballpoint pen on yellowish paper. In the upper right corner is a little box with a date: 12/2025The first spread of pages, still written sloppily and with mistakes. It reads: "I'm trying to combat my own depression by focusing on "life" outside co-counseling sessions instead of ruminating abt. trauma and problems. Problem: I have no life!" This last sentence of page 1 is bigger than the rest.
Page 2: "Well. It feels that way. I'm broke and struggling for basic survival and I'm too disabled to move around much. Which really limits what I can do besides stew in misery or kill time (which feels like a waste!). I do [underlined] have lots to do... just 0 spoons!" The word spoons is cramped awkwardly into the corner of the page because it almost didn't fit.Photo of the centre spread (pages 3 and 4) of the minizine, again handwritten. I used wooden clothespegs to hold it open while taking the picture. The text reads: " Step 1 [double underlined] Commit? ... commit. Yeah, ok. I hereby commit to try to live life to the fullest extent possible to me now. No need to compare to others or past/future me.
Step 2 [double underlined] Brainstorm ideas:
- knitting
- doodling [arrow] doodle a day minizines!
- making zines
- cooking, eating
- eating sweets + snacks
- look out the window
- read?
- make room/house as nice as"

For scale, perspective, this is where the apparatus doth sit. I have hand built everything seen, survival mode, but we have some creature comfort adds that make it enjoyable. I traded A LOT for the amount of deepslate seen.

Anxiety Tip #29: Have you considered going to a therapist to work on your anxiety? Before a therapist starts helping you there will be an opportunity to ask questions and begin building trust. Going to a therapist is hard work. It doesn't bring instant results. But the time spent developing coping skills and finding closure from past hurts is what makes this so worth the effort.... rons-home.net/en/living-life-l [Next Tip Jan 25 2026]

Living a bit, every day…

I believe I have written about this topic a bit before, as I've been struggling with my (mental) health. Dealing with pain, grief, cPTSD... It throws a lot of struggles your way, which make you wonder at times if it's all worth it. At least, that's what it's been doing to me. And I still wonder from time to time. What is this life? Is there a goal? Why are some things expected from you to do them? And, especially the questions about life having a goal, they're the ones that make me wonder most. When I had the ability to still work, it was easier for me to keep going, as the part of doing my work properly and all that gave me a goal to chase and try to achieve. But, when work became a no-go for me, I felt like part of my "purpose in life" had fallen away. And, that's still what I feel from time to time now, that I don't really have a purpose, that there is no longer a goal for me to work towards to... […]

A cartoon-style digital illustration created by Gemini AI, edited in Pixlr and AddText. A cheerful pixy with short rainbow hair, shimmering wings, and purple headphones pushes a vacuum cleaner in a warmly lit living room while holding a Kobo e-reader. They wear a purple tracksuit and glasses. Sunlight streams through a window, illuminating dust motes. The text "Living a bit, every day..." is overlayed in large, purple, script font at the bottom.

Anyone else have a habit (#coping strategy?) of doom-shopping when the anxiety and stress from the world feel like too much? Just me?

As long as I don’t spend too much money, it helps me feel better prepared and slightly more in control (and therefore, a smidge safer). Today I bought hard hats and protective eyewear. What a world.

@doggle I’m constantly feeling like I’ve forgotten to do something or feel bad for not getting more done. When stress hits, these feelings intensify. I’m working on giving myself the space to work at my own speed and try to ignore those feelings. I’ve learned over time that they’re bulshit and distracting. Doesn’t always work though.

Finding Peace Amidst Holiday Chaos

A Thanksgiving Meditation

Spending time with family during the holidays or other gatherings can be challenging, as differing personalities and perspectives often clash in close quarters, and perhaps a loved one is coping with illness or the many different difficulties associated with aging. The stress of caregiving, coupled with the emotional toll of watching a loved one suffer, can feel overwhelming at times. However, integrating this meditation practice into our routine not only allows us to cultivate self-love, calm, and compassion—essential tools for navigating these potentially chaotic circumstances—but also encourages us to develop greater awareness of our emotional responses. By setting aside a few quiet moments each day to meditate, we can center ourselves, releasing the tension that may have built up, and approach family interactions with a renewed sense of understanding and patience. This deeper awareness enables us to listen more actively and respond more kindly, thereby fostering a more harmonious environment for everyone involved.

Please take a moment for yourself and enjoy this free guided meditation below, or download it to listen whenever you need a little peace and calm.

This practice offers a sacred moment to reconnect with your true self, to embrace your unique essence, and to cultivate a profound gratitude for the love that envelops you within your family. As you immerse yourself in these soothing reflections, you will find clarity in recognizing the beauty around you and the strength that comes from nurturing both your spirit and your relationships.

Remember that we are all walking the path of life together, navigating through the twists and turns that each day brings. We are all inexperienced and learning as we go, discovering our strengths and weaknesses along the way. As we journey through life’s challenges, it’s essential to have patience with those who suffer, for their path is difficult, filled with obstacles and uncertainties. Each person carries their own burdens, and it is crucial to extend compassion, understanding, and support, recognizing that we are all striving to find our way in this intricate tapestry of existence. This shared experience can foster a sense of community, reminding us that we are not alone in our struggles and that empathy can lighten the load for those around us.

Living Through My “Worst Era”

I hate that phrase — worst era. It’s kind of cringe, and I’m not even a fan of Taylor Swift, but honestly, it fits. The last few years have felt exactly like that — a personal “worst era.” Not because everything was terrible all the time, but because the weight of it all, the accumulation of losses, disappointments, and exhaustion, has been relentless. It’s like living in a storm that doesn’t let up, and somehow, you have to keep walking through it. For me, the cracks started […]
