This is a black and white street photo in landscape format of a Chinese man sitting in a dinghy and looking in on a small houseboat. Causeway Bay, Hong Kong (2013).

To the lower right of centre is our Chinese man, nearly bald, wearing a white t-shirt and loose, long trousers. He is leaning in a rectangular opening of a home-built houseboat. The houseboat is nearly at right angles to the camera and while it is not all in view its probably about six metres long. The boats covering is made up of numerous awnings and plastic sheets slung over various metal frames and secured to the boat with a number of ropes and nets. Our Chinese man has rowed over to the houseboat to check up and talk to an elderly man (out of sight) living on board. Surrounding this scene are numerous other houseboats making up this floating village in the Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter, Hong Kong.
